Come immerse yourself in the myths and legends of Ireland through the Windsor Art Center’s fourth installment of The Mythology Project – a new short play inspired by Celtic mythology, created by a team of local actors, writers, and artists.
This year’s performance focuses on stories about mythical heroes and real-life legends. It explores how our own personal and collective heroes live on in our memories – sometimes becoming larger than life. As with past Mythology Projects, audiences can expect the same playful energy, with the performance featuring music, audience participation, and comedy throughout. The play will feature tales of the heroes Cuchulainn, Finn Mac Cumhaill, and real-life legend, Grace O’Malley, the “Pirate Queen of Ireland”.
The final script was written by J. Mason Beiter of Glastonbury and devised in collaboration with cast and creative team members Benjamin Joseph Alas of Windsor, Aneudy Corchado of New Britain, Michael C. Daly of Windsor, Catherine Haverkampf of Worcester, MA, Lisa Ives of Bristol, Nicole Morin of New Britain, and Alexis Thomasi of Bristol.
MORE INFO:
The play was created from scratch through a collaborative process called “devising.” A team of actors, writers, and artists came together with director Amanda Pawlik to improvise how to stage and tell the stories, resulting in a final script. During the show, the actors/storytellers will play several roles each as they perform favorite tales featuring the heroes Cuchulainn, Finn Mac Cumhaill, and real-life legend, Grace O’Malley, the “Pirate Queen of Ireland”.
The performance is expected to run approximately 90 minutes. A free talkback discussion will follow the September 29 performance.
