Dear friends of Windsor Art Center,
It’s hard to believe that the Windsor Art Center has been sparking creativity in our community for 18 years! Thanks to you, our doors have stayed open to artists, musicians, students, and visitors of all ages who come here to connect, learn, and be inspired. Over the years, our organization has stood as a hub for creativity through our numerous exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events. With your help, we hope to continue uniting diverse artistic cultures, and inspiring an appreciation for the visual and performing arts for all ages and backgrounds.
Let’s take a look back at what we’ve accomplished in the past year:
EXHIBITS: Windsor Art Center presents six exhibits per year, presenting a wide range of artistic talent. Our spring exhibit Primeval Awakening: Moving the Chains saw 529 visitors.
LOCAL ARTIST ENGAGEMENT: Our 11th Annual Members Exhibition featured over 40 local artists and showed off the wide range of incredible talent that we have in our community. In addition, the return of Makers’ Markets in our gallery allowed over 50 artisans to sell their wares and make themselves known to our community. Additionally, WAC Studios opened its doors for 4 Open Studio dates, giving the community an opportunity to see the creative process of our 6 studio artists.
CLASSES: Windsor Art Center continued to expand class offerings with instructors Michelle Hawran and Sage Neighbors, including the addition of stained glass instructor Kelly Kelly and pen and ink instructor Christy Corey. This year alone, WAC offered over 40 classes, and welcomed 250 students into the classroom. Classes spanned an array of topics such as acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting, charcoal drawing, chalk pastel, and stained glass, and ranged from beginners to advanced experience levels.
SPOKEN WORD: Windsor Art Center, with support from the Town of Windsor, started a monthly open mic night with Windsor’s inaugural poet laureate, VersatilePoetiq. Over 20 performers (and counting!) were given a platform to showcase their talents,
LIVE MUSIC & CULTURE: Windsor Art Center expanded upon our 2024 Connecticut River & Roots Festival with a series of smaller concerts, featuring artists Zak Trojano, The Dilemma Duo, and Jessye DeSilva. We also brought the town a mariachi concert, an orchestral performance by Sol Solis Consort, and music from the Michael Cleary Band to celebrate the Shad Derby. And who could forget our organization of Make Music Windsor, a day of small performances by musicians of all ages to celebrate the summer solstice.
Windsor Art Center exhibits and programming draw an audience of 4,500 attendees annually, fostering a vibrant cultural atmosphere in our community. The majority of our programs are free or donation-based. This is only possible with the support from people like you. Please consider making a donation today and helping us to reach our 2025 appeal goal of $20,000. Thank you for your dedication to the arts, and for believing in the power of art to connect people. Here’s to another great year of creativity, collaboration, and community!
