Catalina McKay: Raised in Windsor, Connecticut, Catalina is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in puppetry and traditional crafts. Her artistic journey is deeply informed by a passion for nature, which has led her around the world as an avid birder, all while maintaining a career in the fabrication industry. Catalina has contributed her skills to major studios including Netflix, Warner Bros., Adult Swim, and others.
Her personal work often explores the intersection of the human form and the natural world, reflecting a deep reverence for the rhythms and textures of both. She draws profound inspiration from the women artists in her family—her grandmothers, mother, and sisters—whose creativity and resilience continue to shape her practice.
Gabrielle McKay: “I am a collector of skills both technical and artistic. My personal work emphasizes my love of play, saturated colors, and all things strange in otherwise ordinary people and things. At my everyday job I travel the country, leading a team of tent-gineers (as we like to call them) in the installation of large unusual tent structures. I am constantly meet and work with others in creating unique spaces for all sorts of events, from corporate gatherings to immersive music festivals.”
Terese Newman: Terese is a painter and graphic designer whose work blends expressive color, layered textures, and thoughtful composition to explore themes of identity, memory, and the natural world. With a background in both fine art and visual communication, her creative practice bridges the intuitive freedom of painting with the precision and clarity of design. Terese’s oil paintings often feature abstract landscapes and organic forms, inviting viewers into quiet, contemplative spaces. Her design work reflects a similar sensibility—clean, intentional, and rooted in storytelling. Whether working on canvas or digital platforms, she is guided by a deep curiosity about how visual language shapes human experience.
Based in Windsor, Connecticut, Terese exhibits her artwork in galleries and community spaces, and collaborates with clients on design projects ranging from brand identity to book layout. Her multidisciplinary approach allows her to move fluidly between mediums, always seeking connection between the emotional and the aesthetic. While mainly working in oil paints, she also works often with acrylic paints, watercolors, printmaking, and collage/multi-media. Terese graduated from UConn Fine Arts with a BFA and received an MFA from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia. Upon graduating from from UofA, she lived in New York City and the Colt Building in Hartford, Connecticut while working as a part-time assistant for Sol LeWitt in the 1990s. Later she worked as an Art Director of Connecticut Public TV & Radio before working at an ad agency in Essex, CT.
Estela Ramos: Estela holds a degree in Decoration and Design, as well as professional training in Visual Arts from the Autonomous University of Coahuila (2019). From a young age, she showed an innate passion for drawing and colors. In the 1970s, she developed a close relationship with painting and photography —disciplines she pursued in a self-taught manner and which became the foundation of her artistic work.
In 1978, she settled in the Comarca Lagunera region, and in 1991, she began teaching classes in her studio at the request of friends. She has participated in numerous collective and solo exhibitions at the regional level. In 2016, she decided to deepen her artistic education by studying for a degree in Visual Arts, which represented both a significant challenge and a valuable opportunity to grow and explore new artistic and contemporary techniques. For Estela, “art has been an innate need, as exploring techniques is like engaging in a playful experiment with diverse materials to be surprised by the results.”
This philosophy is reflected in her work, which has crossed borders and was featured at events such as the International Cervantino Festival in 2022. In addition to her individual artistic journey, Estela is an active member of “Colectivo 40 y más” (Collective 40 and Beyond), a group of women who, through art, give voice and visibility to women’s experiences and perspectives in the Lagunera region. This collective has become a space for empowerment and collaborative creation, where art serves as a means to reflect and transform reality. Most recently, in December 2023, she was named Distinguished Citizen by the Secretariat of Culture of Gómez Palacio, Durango, in recognition of her cultural contributions.
Estela is extremely grateful to Torreón, Coahuila Mexico -Instituto Municipal de Cultura y Educacion for their support and sponsorship to ship her art to this exhibition.
