WAC Overview – 2023

Letter from the President of Windsor Art Center:

Dear Friends of the Arts,

Over the past 17 years, Windsor Art Center has stood as a beacon of creativity, uniting diverse artistic cultures, and inspiring an appreciation for the visual and performing arts. Throughout our numerous exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events, we aim to address populations of varying ages, and backgrounds.

In 2023, we have achieved significant milestones and made a profound impact on our community:

EXHIBITS: Windsor Art Center presents six exhibits per year presenting a wide range of artistic talent. Our recent exhibit “WEUSI – the beauty of blackness” attracted 243 guests.

LOCAL ARTISTS: Our annual members exhibit showcased over 120 local artists showcasing a wide range of the great talent we have in our community including sculpture, photography, painting, and collage.

THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE: Theatrical performance: Windsor Art Center hosted and sponsored three live performances including “The Mythology Project – Heroes and Legends of Ireland” and “Shad Derby Comedy Fireworks!”, co-hosted by local comedy and theater duo Wry Bred.

CLASSES: Windsor Art Center has recently begun to expand class offerings with education coordinator Michelle Hawran. Last year alone, WA offered over 60 classes and welcomed 141 students into the classroom. Classes spanned an array of topics such as acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting, charcoal drawing, printmaking, collage, and abstract art, and ranged from beginners to advanced experience levels.

SPOKEN WORD: Windsor Art Center partnered with the Human Rights Commission to host the Juneteenth event, spoken word event.

LIVE MUSIC: Windsor Art Center offered monthly music events including “Abstract Art to music” workshop which featured musician Kalidasa and artist Gary Jacobs.

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT: Windsor Art Center exhibition programming draws an audience of 4,500 attendees annually, fostering a vibrant cultural atmosphere in our community. The majority of our programs are free or donation-based.

This is only possible with the support from people like you.
